With over twenty songs filling the soundtrack for American Nightmare, the choice in sounds and bands becomes a vital part of the movie experience. Gathering the best of local Texas bands and recording artists, Highland Myst Films is compiling the perfect music to enhance each scene and add to the overall atmosphere and mood of the film.

Inspired by the success and feel of such musically-driven movies as George Lucas' American Graffiti, Robert Rodriguez's From Dusk till Dawn, and Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction, Highland Myst Films is creating a unique soundtrack. Unlike many movies which seek "pop" or "trendy" songs that inevitably destroy the lasting nature of the film, it is their intention to create a soundtrack driven by Texas Rhythm & Blues, Mariachi Stained Surf Rock, and Classical Gothic sounds that will remain popular and timeless.

FEATURED BAND - GHOULTOWN

Way down in Texas... beneath the vast, dark sky... a new black gold is boiling up from the underground. "Country gone evil? Alternative rock gone hick?" one journalist conjectures. Either way, something undeniable is overflowing into the smoky clubs of the Southwest in the form of four black-clad drifters, a haunting beauty, and a cadaverous mariachi trumpeter. Collectively known as Ghoultown, the band combines the reverb-driven twang of Spaghetti Western soundtracks with gothic influences and upbeat cowpunk to produce an aural tour de force whose flag could very well read: Texas Terror Twang!

For American Nightmare, Ghoultown will be offering their boothill sounds and shootout guitar-slinging as the soundtracks primary band. From the spaghetti feel of "Boots of Hell" during the film's opening, through the haunting "After 2," and into a special song written just for this film - featuring the band in an integral party scene - Ghoultown assures American Nightmare to be filled with original sounds and the perfect music. THE SANDBLASTERS

The Sandblasters, from Austin town, deliver a rough riding, forceful power twang that rings of impending danger and total freedom in the single moment. Their tracks on American Nightmare are snapshots of the world they explore from Space
to Spaghetti to Spy- Fi to Surf. There's no room left for vocals in this high energy darkness.

GROPIUS

Gropius exists between the intriguing harmonies of classical music, the agony/ecstasy of new wave and the power of British rock. Equipped with all the addictive qualities of chocolate and nicotine, they are distinguished by their sultry strings and simmering, strong vocals raging over powerful bass lines and driving drumbeats. Most commonly described as a breath of fresh air. Ironic with the previous nicotine comparison, isn't it?

EDEN AUTOMATIC

Annette Conlon's fiery vocals blend seamlessly with guitar virtuoso Doug Conlon's rhythmic soundscapes to create a diverse blend of music buried deep in the gallows of American roots rock. Chris Harris' soul-pounding bass lines and Jimmy Dereta's bone-breaking drumbeats punctuate Eden Automatic's lyrics, forging an unbreakable chain between the group's unforgettable melodies and their timeless message.

THE STANDARDS

Using Austin as home, and the roots of Rock 'N Roll as their foundation, The Standards have relentlessly tried to combine the most eclectic of influences with the working class simplistic approach they've sworn to, and found themselves with more than the legal limit of most things. Their self-released debut album "Between the Ditches" which includes 4:30am from this sound track is available through Hepcat Records. While working on a follow up album they continue to enlighten or alienate any crowd in their path.
